Step 1: Cut the tortilla

To begin, cook and assemble your fillings. Then, place your tortilla on a cutting board and make a cut from the middle of the tortilla to the edge closest to you.

Step 2: Add fillings

Starting in the bottom-left corner and working clockwise, add your cheese, scrambled egg, breakfast sausage and hash browns to their own quarter of the tortilla.

Editor’s tip: If you’re using delicate ingredients that are sensitive to heat, like lettuce or dairy-based sauces, be sure to add them to the bottom-left quarter of the tortilla. This quarter is the most protected from heat when cooking, so you won’t end up with soggy greens or curdled sauce.

Step 3: Fold

Grab the bottom-left corner of the tortilla and fold it up, sandwiching the cheese and eggs. Then, flip the top-left corner of the tortilla over to the right, and then fold that down. When done, your tortilla should be triangle-shaped, with all of the fillings stacked on top of each other.

Editor’s tip: Not getting clean folds? Try adding a bit less filling next time. Overstuffing your tortilla can make it difficult to fold the ingredient layers.

Step 4: Toast

Heat a skillet, panini press or electric griddle to medium heat and toast your folded tortilla until it has browned and the fillings are hot. If you’re using a skillet or griddle, make sure to give the tortilla a flip halfway through cooking.

Step 5: Enjoy!

Once sufficiently toasted, remove your wrap and give it a minute or two to cool. Then, dig in!
