Introduction: Filet Mignon, renowned for its tenderness and rich flavor, gets an extra layer of luxury with a creamy parmesan mustard sauce. This dish is perfect for those looking to create an unforgettable meal for special occasions or even just to indulge in a comforting yet sophisticated dinner. The smooth and slightly tangy sauce pairs perfectly with the buttery texture of the filet mignon, making every bite a savory experience. Let’s dive into how to create this elegant dish that will impress anyone at the table.

Ingredients:

For the Filet Mignon:

2 filet mignon steaks (6 oz each)
Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
For the Creamy Parmesan Mustard Sauce:

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
1/2 cup heavy cream
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon lemon juice (optional)
Salt and pepper to taste
1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Directions:

Prep the Filet Mignon:

Remove the filet mignon steaks from the fridge about 30 minutes before cooking to bring them to room temperature.
Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
Cook the Filet Mignon:

Heat a heavy skillet (preferably cast-iron) over medium-high heat. Add olive oil and butter, allowing the butter to melt and bubble slightly.
Once hot, place the steaks in the skillet and sear for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until they reach your preferred level of doneness (for medium-rare, aim for an internal temperature of 130°F, and for medium, 140°F).
Once cooked, remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a plate for 5-10 minutes to retain their juices.
Prepare the Sauce:

In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the Dijon mustard, stirring for about 30 seconds to release its flavor.
Add the heavy cream, garlic powder, and lemon juice (if using), and bring the mixture to a simmer. Stir frequently to combine and let it cook for 3-4 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
Once thickened, add the grated parmesan cheese and stir until melted and smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper as needed.
Assemble the Dish:

Place the rested filet mignon steaks back on the plate and spoon the creamy parmesan mustard sauce generously over the top.
Garnish with chopped parsley for a fresh touch.
Serving and Storage Tips:

Serving: Serve the filet mignon immediately, paired with roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a fresh salad for a balanced and hearty meal. A glass of red wine, such as Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot, would complement the richness of the steak and sauce beautifully.

Storage: If you have leftovers, store the steak and sauce separately. Place the steak in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. The sauce can be stored in a separate container for up to 2 days. Reheat gently on the stove over low heat, adding a bit more cream if necessary to restore the sauce’s consistency.
