Strong ammonia odor: infection or dehydration?
Urine smelling strongly after ammonia may be due to lack of fluid. However, if this smell is associated with pain during urination, frequent urination or urination, it could be a urinary tract infection.
Urinary tract infections are common, especially in women, and require quick treatment to prevent complications.
Dark brown urine: a sign that cannot be ignored
Dark brown urine can be caused by certain foods (such as rhubarb or fava beans), certain drugs (such as metronidazole or chloroquine) or severe dehydration.
However, it may also indicate a more serious problem, such as liver disease or muscle damage (rhabdomyolysis). After intensive physical exertion, there may be darker discoloration of the urine, but this continues, a medical examination is required.
