To remove a key broken off in the lock: 5 tricks to avoid everything being disassembled

Small accidents can happen everywhere and daily. Sometimes due to poor maintenance, due to manufacturing defects or too much rush. One of the most common accidents is that keys break off and get stuck in the lock.

The worst thing about this problem is that the solution cannot be postponed if it happens to the house keys. Before you call a key service, you can try these tricks to remove a broken key from the lock without having to dismantle everything.

First trick

You just need a very strong magnet. If the key is stuck in the vertical position, it is very easy to remove it.

Put some lube on it, then take the magnet and place it on the key so that it can work. The key should adhere to the magnet and be easily loosened.

Second trick

You need a pointed tongs or scissors with very thin tips. Insert the area around the key and then use a pliers or scissors to grab the end of the key that protrudes from the lock.

Try to pull off the key carefully. Gradually do this movement without moving vigorously: you run the risk of taking the key deeper into the lock.
